My name is Raffaela and my husband is Broderick and we are both 29 this year! Scaryyy!! Last year of our 20’s. I dont want to grow up. We have on little wee babe, Indigo Rose and she just turned 1 in October.
Brod and I met 7.5 years ago at a friends 21st. We live in Melbourne and bought our first home 5 years ago. I am the youngest sibling of 4 and brod is the youngest of 2. We are both very family orientated and love spending time together as a family. Brod and I are a very laid back couple and enjoy spending our time out and about. Brod is a mad sports fan and I enjoy everything interiors and baby related.
Brod is a electrician and prior to Indigo coming into the world I was a manager at a disability employment service, where I assisted teens and adults with disabilities and/or mental health to find suitable work and sustain employment. My oldest brother, was my main motivation into this indusrty as he was born with intellectual disability.
Looking at returning to work, i have recently enrolled into a teachers aid certificate to hopefully find employment in a primary school supporting students with special needs.

How would you describe your family?
Loving, connected, active and easy going.
How did becoming a mother change you?
Having Indi has allowed me to see what is most important in life. To enjoy the little things and not get hung up on things you cant change or not worth worrying about.
What’s the best part about being a mother?
I still need to pitch myself at times when I look at the little person my husband and I have created. The best part about being a mother would have to be watching Indi react to the world and seeing the simple pleasures through her eyes.
Naming your children is always so difficult (or maybe it was just me!) Was it easy to pick your child’s name and why did choose it?
Choosing a name that my husband and I both loved was tough. We had heaps of Boys names, but of course the list for girls was pretty much non existent. But one day when i was doing my usual pinterest scrolling i came across the name Indigo and instantly fell in love with the name and luckily so did Brod. So indigo is was!
Has your personal style changed since becoming mother? If so how?
Mmm i dont think so. Although i tend to lean towards basic pieces that can be worn during the day but also at night. If anything my personal style has been lacking because all my attention has been shifted to Indi. However a new wardrobe is on the cards at the moment. Afterall your daughters wardrobe cant possibly be better than her mummas.
Is there anything about motherhood that has surprised you?
Everything my mother told me is true haha.
How challanging it can be sometimes and the intensity of the connection you have with your little babe.
Favourite thing to do as a family?
Be outdoors enjoying the fresh air. May that be going down to the family beach house in Phillip island or spending a few hours down at a park.
What has been the most memorable moment for you in motherhood so far?
Holding Indi for the first time and taking her home from the hospital. These moments give me such love fuzzy feelings when I look back at photos. When she turned 1 I thought i wouldn’t get emotional but reflecting back to these moments i couldnt help but tear up.
What are some baby essentials every new mother needs?
Well its easy to run through a list of the basic stuff as most hospitals provide this information therefore I thought i would list some things friends has recommended or items i discovered along the way that i found helpful.
– Soft cotton muslin wraps for swaddling. I also found these perfect to cover the pram when she slept or even a light blanket for those chilly morning walks.
– A comforter – indi has grown to love her lamby! She holds her tight at night when sleeping (possibly the cutest thing ever) and i honestly believe this is why she is such a good sleeper. At first she didnt seem to care for it, however i introduced her by holding lucy next to Indi when breastfeeding and then placed it in bed with her. Now lucy is her bestie and Indi cannot sleep without her.
– The sleep sheep! Plays white noice to soothe baby when sleeping.
– A bath sling. This was so helpful when bathing Indi. Instead of having to hold her, indi sat in a soft bamboo sling which allowed me to be more interactive with her during bath time and she was also alot more comfortable and supported laying back.
– baby camera. This has been great for us. Indi is quite a light sleeper. So by having the camera is has allowed us to check on her without needing to go into her room and waking her.
What are some of your favourite shops/websites for baby wear?

To be happy
Have any advice for newly mothers/mothers to be?
To cherish every moment of every day! Soak up as much baby goodness that you can because time passes quickly and there’s no going back!
Also to take each day as it comes. Don’t be too hard on yourself, parenthood is challenging but you can do it!!! Keep positive and don’t be afraid to ask for help or advise.
