What are you most passionate about?

There are so many things I’m passionate about. The first is my family. I’m very passionate about getting them outdoors exploring, bike riding, scootering.  It is also important we eat well, so I try and make healthy food and get the kids involved in picking food from the farmers market and cooking. I’m also very passionate about design, photography and crafty projects. I love creating a beautiful space for us to live in.

Do you have any hobbies/things you do in your downtime?

I love decorating and have thoroughly enjoyed decorating both Scarlett and Riley’s room as well as the rest of the home. I’m forever moving items around and adding new little touches and when I get into my decorating moods I find I can really escape. I also love photography, so am often editing photos in the evenings that I have taken of the kids or of the house during the day.

How would you describe your family?

We are a little family who love to explore outdoors, both in our garden, at the beach or on bush walks. Luke is a Ranger so he loves teaching the kids about all things in nature. We also love to do crafty activities with the kids, Scarlett is forever drawing and painting and Riley has started to really enjoy it as well.

How did becoming a mother change you?

Motherhood has changed me in ever way, yet I’m very comfortable with this role and feel like it has completed me. It is always a balancing act, juggling spending time which each child, looking after myself and working. It feels like my babies have grown up so quick, yet it feels like they have been here forever.

What’s the best part about being a mother?

Watching Scarlett and Riley grow and develop into wonderful caring, people. Seeing their relationship and bond has made me so happy and also surprised me, as I never knew how happy it would make me.

Has your personal style changed since becoming mother? If so how?

Yes and no. Pre kids my wardrobe contained a lot of nice Cue work clothes, now I’m home a lot more I need more practical comfortable clothes. I’m often in jeans, with sandals in summer and flat boots in winter. I’m starting to wear more skirts including maxi skirts which I never wore before kids, as I miss dressing up as much as I used to.

Favourite thing to do as a family?

We love to travel down to the in-laws caravan and spend time as a family at the beach exploring rocks pools, building sandcastles and swimming followed by eating good pizza overlooking the ocean.

What has been the most memorable moment for you in motherhood so far?

Being able to hold my babies for the first time just after they were born is the most amazing moment. I loved seeing their little faces for the first time.

What are some baby essentials every new mother needs?

A good pram is a must, the amount of times you pull it out of the car and push it everywhere, you don’t want it annoying you. Love to dream swaddles, so much easier than swaddles at 3am.

Some nice comfortable leisure clothes for mum for the early days, you need to feed all the time and lots of people visit, so its nice to have something nice on but comfortable.

What are some of your favourite shops/websites for baby wear?

I have discovered so many beautiful brands and small business on Instagram including Aubrie for stunning girls wear, Yoli and Otis which has beautiful linens for mums, as well as boys and girls. Bobux for quality footwear. Bella Buttercup for beautiful playmats and toys. Numero 74 for the most interior products. My list could go on forever though!

What is the one thing you want to teach your children?

Be accepting of others and I want them to believe in themselves and their abilities.

Have any advice for newly mothers/mothers to be?

Prepare lots of healthy freezer meals. I’ve always cooked but after both my babies, I just didn’t have the time or energy for a couple of months.

Be kind to yourself. Do what you think is right for you and your baby, not what other people think you should do. You get so much advice and different opinions it can get confusing, but there is no right or wrong.

Try and surround yourself with other supportive mums who you can catch up with and speak openly if you are having a tough day.
