My name is Amelia and I’m 28, my husband is Larry and he is 30, and our son is James and he is 15 months old.

I met Larry when I was about 16 years old but we didn’t start dating until much later and then we got married 2 ½ years ago. We both love spending time with our little boy and watching him learn and grow. We try to go on as many trips as we can whenever we get a chance to.

Location? Arizona

Occupation? I am currently a stay at home mom and before James came along I worked as a nurse.

5 favourite things/items?
-Seasons! I love fall leaves and winter snow and spring flowers.
-Our car because it is what we travel in for majority of our vacations
– Chocolate and homemade pie
-Camera/phone to take photos of James
-Running shoes because running is one of my favorite things to do

What are you most passionate about? Spending time with my family. Larry has to work long shifts at the hospital so when he does get time off I value every minute all three of us get to spend together.

Do you have any hobbies/things you do in your downtime? Running. I especially love running and getting to explore new places like on a beach or in the forest.

How would you describe your family? Loving, sweet, fun.

How did becoming a mother change you? Becoming a mother has helped me to become a little more selfless and patient and has shown me just how much I can love someone. When I see James it makes my heart so full and happy and I hope that never fades.

What’s the best part about being a mother? Watching my little boy grow and learn. I love watching all of the milestones and how excited he gets when he learns something new.

Naming your children is always so difficult (or maybe it was just me!) Was it easy to pick your child’s name and why did you choose it? Choosing a name for our son was a tough decision. We originally had a couple of different names picked out that we were going to decide between once we saw our baby, but for some reason those names didn’t seem to fit him. My dad’s name is James and he is the best example of a selfless, loving, and caring person and since our baby was the first grandchild for my dad, I wanted to name our son after him.

Has your personal style changed since becoming mother? If so how? Oh yes! I aim mostly for comfort. I would wear a lot of V-neck shirts and wrap dresses while I was breastfeeding. I wear a swing dress almost every other day or I will wear jeans and a comfy tee.

Is there anything about motherhood that has surprised you? I cannot believe how quickly the first year goes by. I feel like just yesterday I was holding my newborn in my arms and now he is so big!

Favourite thing to do as a family? Going on trips with my family is my favorite. When James was one month old we moved to Seattle, Washington for a month and we had so much fun that we have been trying to go on as many trips as we can since then.

What has been the most memorable moment for you in motherhood so far? Seeing James for the first time was one of the sweetest moments of my life. My husband helped deliver James and to see him deliver and bring James over to me was the most incredible experience that I will never forget. I felt so much love for that tiny baby and was so happy and grateful that he was safe and healthy.

What are some baby essentials every new mother needs? Nursing bras, nursing pads, and prepared meals that can be frozen and reheated are lifesavers.

What are some of your favourite shops/websites for baby wear? I am obsessed with Slouch Headwear Beanies. They even have newborn sizes and they are so soft. I love the Gap Baby Essentials collection for newborns and I cannot wait to have a little girl to get her an Alice and Ames dress!

What is the one thing you want to teach your children? To be respectful and kind.

Have any advice for newly mothers/mothers to be? Trust your instincts and the first month or two with your newborn may be really tough but hang in there and everything gets better.
